Mission End

[The team parted at the entrance. Wolverine gave his reports to Cyclops alone. It suited X23 fine. She sniffed the air for Julian's sent and began to trace it to it's origin. He would call her Laura and she would feel less like a monster. The clothes with the bloodstains would go to the wash and she would start anew again.

She opened Julian's bedroom and walked in] I am back.

[He looked up into her eyes, blue meeting green, and it was like he was seeing her for the first time. His hands tightened instinctively and convulsively against her and he held her close] I did too. Laura, that was... [His face broke into a genuine smile] Where did that come from?

The smell? [He looks momentarily confused but shakes it away. He reaches to brush her hair back from her face]

[He's quiet for a minute. Then he leans up and kisses her, much softer than before]

[His arms shift to curl around her and hold her against him. This feels...oddly normal even though they haven't done it before.]

Yeah, I'd like that. Stay right there. [He pulls the covers over them telekinetically, since one of his hands is busy holding her waist and the other is running through her hair.]

[He closes his eyes too. It doesn't take long before the hand in her hair becomes still and he drifts off to sleep.]
